Resolving the Kali Linux Black Screen Issue in VirtualBox

Have you ever encountered a frustrating black screen while running Kali Linux in VirtualBox? If yes, you're not alone. I recently faced this issue after upgrading my Kali Linux installation using `apt full-upgrade`. The problem persisted even after attempting various fixes found online.

My experience began with leaving a script running overnight and waking up to find my Kali Linux instance stuck on a black screen. The usual solutions involving restarting VirtualBox or Kali did not work for me. I tried upgrading my RAM in the VM settings, but that too didn't help.

In an effort to troubleshoot the issue, I modified the `/etc/default/grub` file, but unfortunately, it did not resolve the problem. I also ensured that Intel Virtualization was enabled in my BIOS and made changes to the Display settings within VirtualBox, including increasing video memory and disabling 3D acceleration.

The turning point came when I upgraded Kali Linux and was prompted to install GRUB on one of two options: `/dev/sda` or `/dev/sda1`. I chose `sda1`, thinking that it would be sufficient since there is only one operating system installed. However, during the installation process, I opted to skip installing GRUB, assuming it wasn't necessary.

After rebooting, I noticed a faster boot time and the Plymouth screen, but unfortunately, the black screen persisted. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I modified the GRUB configuration file, which resulted in a standard Debian GRUB menu with a dark blue background. Despite this change, the problem continued.

Interestingly, I encountered the same black screen issue when I first installed Kali Linux using VirtualBox. Modifying the GRUB settings did not help in either case.
